WHAT WE DO

Colgate University – Bernstein Hall

Pike provided construction management at risk services for the new Bernstein Hall - Center for Creativity & Innovation on the Colgate University campus in Hamilton, New York. The new 3-story, 30,000 SF structural steel with bluestone veneer building is now the University’s new hub for the Computer Science department, consisting of flexible and technology-enabled classrooms, offices and a fabrication lab and also includes program spaces for Music, Theatre, and Film Studies.

The building contains a theatre and a digital recording studio, which require extensive acoustic isolation. Building has high-end finishes throughout including architecturally exposed structural steel, polished concrete floors and a feature staircase. The project included extensive utility relocations, as well as deep excavation sitework on a sloping site.

Pike provided complete pre-construction services including three estimates (two reconciled with a third-party estimating service, Vermeulens), constructability reviews, scheduling & logistics planning, long lead item procurement (direct), early bid packaging and value management services. Pike also completed full Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination of interior spaces as well as in-place steel in coordination with pre-cast and stone placement.
The new Center for Creativity & Innovation is a geothermal building and is designed to receive LEED™ Silver certification.
